Creating a Boutique Hotel Bedroom in Your Own Home
One of the highlights of a holiday is the opportunity to stay somewhere comfortable, peaceful and stylish. While we all long for idyllic locations, bountiful dining options and welcoming staff, it is often the bedroom that can make or break a dream escape.
So what is it about a successful hotel room that makes us feel both completely at home yet a million miles away from our former lives? A spacious balcony, picturesque view and chic en suite might not be possible at home, but there are other ways to feel like you are in a boutique hotel bedroom.
Top Tips for the Luxury Look
Retailers John Lewis have suggested some ways in which you can achieve a sense of indulgence in your own bedroom. We have selected our top three, which we regularly use in our own designs at House of Harrogate.
Lighting: Ceiling lights and bedside lamps may be practical, but they lack the creativity and elegance of a boutique hotel room. Instead, opt for innovative alternatives such as strip lighting underneath the bed, spotlights built into the headboard, or pendant lights.
Multiple uses: The bedroom has become more than just a place to sleep. You will often find clever room designs in hotels that produce different zones within one space. Areas for changing, applying make-up, reading and relaxing can be formed with careful furniture placement.
Textures: Remember that beautiful tweed throw, leather armchair, sheepskin rug or velvet curtains from your holiday hotel? These are the elements we fall in love with when staying away but that we often forget to include in our own interior spaces.
A Beautiful Bedroom from our Portfolio
With our experience in designing and fitting bespoke bedrooms, the team at House of Harrogate are well versed in creating interiors that are both practical and elegant. Take a look at our online portfolio to see some of the bedrooms we have worked on.
This stunning bedroom includes features that you would associate with an opulent, high-end hotel room that we have been able to replicate in a home living environment. The floating bed, for example, is a striking focal point whilst also providing an additional storage option.
Similarly, the wardrobes and chest of drawers fulfil a purpose but look contemporary and fresh with their elongated silver handles. Mirrors are used to reflect light and increase the sense of space, while the pale colours and variety of textures are both tasteful and cosy.
